SB 5975 - DIGEST

Requires the office of the superintendent of public instruction, subject to funds appropriated for this purpose, to allocate grants to: (1) High schools to implement a training program to prepare students for employment as entry-level aerospace assemblers;

(2) Skill centers to implement enhanced manufacturing skills programs; and

(3) High schools to implement specialized courses in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics careers as provided by project lead the way.

Requires the education data center in the office of financial management to: (1) Collect aerospace assembler program student participation and completion data for grant recipient high schools;

(2) Collect enhanced manufacturing skills programs student participation and completion data for grant recipient skill centers;

(3) Collect project lead the way student course enrollment, course completion, and end-of-course assessment information;

(4) Study mathematics and science course-taking patterns of students completing project lead the way courses; and

(5) Follow project lead the way students to employment or further training and education in the two years following high school.
