HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 2013-4646, by Representatives Holy, Riccelli, Shea, Fagan, Ormsby, Schmick, Kretz, Short, Crouse, Manweller, Parker, Hayes, Warnick, and Hunt

     WHEREAS, On June 19th, Deputy Matt Spink and Deputy Mike Northway conducted a traffic stop at the request of the Spokane Regional Drug Task Force, and during the traffic stop a gunman jumped out of the vehicle and began firing upon the deputies; and
     WHEREAS, Deputy Spink suffered a single gunshot wound in the leg, and Deputy Mike Northway suffered gunshot wounds to each arm and his leg; and
     WHEREAS, Both deputies returned fire after sustaining the aforementioned wounds; and
     WHEREAS, It takes dedication and courage to face such dangerous criminals, and the citizens of Spokane County are grateful to the brave actions of these men;
     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State House of Representatives honor Deputy Matt Spink and Deputy Mike Northway for being wounded in the line of duty while protecting the citizens of Spokane County from a dangerous gunman; and
     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to Deputy Matt Spink, Deputy Mike Northway, and cooperating agencies: Spokane County Sheriff's Office, Spokane Police Department, Spokane Valley Police Department, Washington State Patrol, United States Customs and Border Patrol, Washington State Department of Corrections, Airway Heights Police Department, Liberty Lake Police Department, United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, City of Spokane Fire Department, Spokane County Fire District 4, Spokane County Fire District 9, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
