SENATE COMMITTEE ON EARLY LEARNING & K-12 EDUCATION |
Majority Report: Do pass.
Signed by Senators Zeiger, Chair; Fain, Vice Chair; Rolfes, Ranking Minority Member; Mullet, Rivers and Warnick.
Staff: Susan Mielke (786-7422)
Background: Since 1969, the SPI has been directed to annual review and report on the TBIP.
Summary of Bill: SPI must annually review and report on the TBIP on or before February 1st instead of January 1st.
Appropriation: None.
Fiscal Note: Available.
Creates Committee/Commission/Task Force that includes Legislative members: No.
Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.
Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: At OSPI, we take out deadlines very seriously and every year we are stressed trying to get the TBIP report to the Legislature. There is data that comes from school districts late in November and December. We have to analyze the data for the report and it does a little bit of time to do that. So, changing the date would be very helpful.
Persons Testifying: PRO: Senator Hans Zeiger, Prime Sponsor; Mea Moore, OSPI.
Persons Signed In To Testify But Not Testifying: No one.
