Background: The Legislative Advisory Committee (advisory committee) to the Committee on Advanced Tuition Payment and College Savings as established in 2011. The advisory committee is responsible for providing advice to the committee and the state actuary regarding the administration of the Guaranteed Education Tuition (GET) program and the college savings program including, but not limited to, pricing guidelines, the tuition unit price, and the unit payout value.

The advisory committee membership is comprised of the following:

Summary of Bill: The advisory committee to the Committee on Advanced College Tuition Payment and College Savings is repealed.

Appropriation: None.

Fiscal Note: Requested on January 20, 2020.

Creates Committee/Commission/Task Force that includes Legislative members: No.

Effective Date: Ninety days after adjournment of session in which bill is passed.

Staff Summary of Public Testimony: PRO: We have seen the successful implementation of the college savings program and tenure of the GET program. The committee piece feels like some extra red tape that we can get rid of. Members and staff have many obligations and eliminating this is an efficiency.
