AN ACT Relating to group and blanket disability insurance; and adding a new section to chapter 48.21 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.21 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) No policy of group or blanket disability insurance regulated under this chapter may be issued or renewed in this state after July 1, 1986, unless the policy covers adopted children of the insured on the same basis as other dependents.

          (2) The coverage required by this section begins on the date of placement for the purpose of adoption and is a continuing requirement unless the placement is disrupted prior to legal adoption and the child is removed from placement prior to being legally adopted.
