AN ACT Relating to the conveyance of land to certain counties for public recreation purposes; and creating new sections.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     Before August 1, 1985, the board of natural resources shall exchange approximately 15.59 acres of land granted to the state by the United States for the support of common schools, located in the south half of the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of Section 16, Township 26 North, Range 4, East Willamette Meridian, for land of equal value managed on behalf of King county under RCW 76.12.030.

          The land assigned under this section to the trust managed on behalf of King county under RCW 76.12.030 shall be conveyed to King county to be held and used for public recreation purposes.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     Before August 1, 1985, the board of natural resources shall exchange the land granted to the state by the United States for the purpose of erecting public buildings at the state capital, located in Section 10, Township 19 North, Range 9, East Willamette Meridian, for land of equal value managed on behalf of Pierce county under RCW 76.12.030.

          The land assigned under this section to the trust managed on behalf of Pierce county under RCW 76.12.030 shall be conveyed to Pierce county to be held and used for public recreation purposes.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.     The provisions of RCW 76.12.073 shall apply to timber on land conveyed to any county under section 1 or 2 of this act.  If land conveyed to any county under section 1 or 2 of this act is used for other than public recreation purposes, the land shall be conveyed back to the department of natural resources upon request of the department.
