AN ACT Relating to infection control measures; and adding a new chapter to Title 71 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The state board of health, in an effort to control the contagion of acquired immune deficiency syndrome, also known as the "AIDS" virus, shall, pursuant to chapter 34.04 RCW:

          (1) Establish methods for the surveillance of the movement, frequency, and distribution of the AIDS virus in the population;

          (2) Implement infection control measures shown to be effective as indicated by surveillance information and medically sound practices; and

          (3) Establish procedures that require the reporting of AIDS virus related malignancies.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     Section 1 of this act shall constitute a new chapter in Title 71 RCW.
