AN ACT Relating to liens; amending RCW 60.48.010; and adding a new section to chapter 60.48 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 60.48 RCW to read as follows:

          An appraiser has a lien for his or her compensation, whether specially agreed upon or implied, upon the papers of the appraiser's client which have come into the appraiser's possession in the course of professional employment.

 

        Sec. 2.  Section 1, chapter 107, Laws of 1931 and RCW 60.48.010 are each amended to read as follows:

          Any person who at the request of the owner of any real property, or his duly authorized agent, surveys, appraises, establishes, or marks the boundaries of, or prepares maps, plans, or specifications for the improvement of such real property, or does any other engineering, appraisal, or counseling work upon such real property, shall have a lien upon such real property or other property of the client, including papers which have come into his or her possession in the course of the professional employment, for the agreed price or reasonable value of such work so performed.
