AN ACT Relating to port districts; and adding a new section to chapter 53.04 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 53.04 RCW to read as follows:

          At any general election or at any special election which may be called for that purpose, the county legislative authority of any county of this state may, or on petition of ten percent of the qualified electors of such county based on the total vote cast in the last general county election, shall, by resolution submit to the voters of such county the proposition that:

          (1) Functions of a port district may be separated into two or more functional classifications to create two or more separate and distinct port districts; and

          (2) The number of port commissioners may be changed in a manner prescribed and/or that port commissioners shall be chosen at large or by commissioner districts or a combination thereof.
