AN ACT Relating to dangerous waste exchange; creating a new section; and making an appropriation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The department of ecology shall conduct a study to determine the practical and financial feasibility and methods for implementing a waste exchange, operated by the department of ecology, for dangerous wastes.  For the purposes of this section:  (1) A "waste exchange" is an organization or system that manages or arranges the transfer of waste between industries, so that one generator's waste might be another industry's raw material; and (2) "dangerous waste" has the meaning defined in chapter 70.105 RCW.  The department of ecology shall submit the results of its study to the legislature no later than February 1, 1986.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     There is appropriated to the department of ecology from the general fund for the biennium ending June 30, 1987, the sum of eighteen thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to conduct the study required by section 1 of this act.
