AN ACT Relating to motor vehicle excise tax exemptions for low-income persons; adding a new section to chapter 82.44 RCW; and providing an effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 82.44 RCW to read as follows:

          The first one hundred dollars in taxes imposed annually under this chapter do not apply in respect to vehicles for which the registered owner, as defined in RCW 46.04.460, is a person meeting all requirements for a property tax exemption under RCW 84.36.381, other than ownership of a residence.  The department of licensing shall adopt rules under chapter 34.04 RCW to implement this section.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     This act shall take effect on October 1, 1985.
