AN ACT Relating to higher education; creating a new section; and making an appropriation.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     (1) The council for postsecondary education, or its successor agency, shall commission a study to develop one or more measurement tools which can be used to evaluate the quality of education at the state institutions of higher education.  Part of the study shall include developing an incentive plan which promotes and rewards improved performance and achievement in the state institutions of higher education.

          (2) The council for postsecondary education, or its successor agency, shall design a plan for implementing the results of the study in consultation with the office of financial management, the legislature, and the state board for community college education.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     The sum of .......... dollars, or as much thereof as may be necessary, is appropriated for the biennium ending June 30, 1987, from the general fund to the council for postsecondary education, or its successor agency, for the purposes of this act.
