WHEREAS, The state has an interest in the provision of educational services for students of superior capacity; and

          WHEREAS, New and creative methods for provision of these services are deserving of consideration;

          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Senate of the state of Washington, the House of Representatives concurring, That a joint study of the feasibility of a competitive entry residential high school that would provide a tuition-free high school program for highly capable students who are residents of the state, including consideration of the possibility of contractual arrangements with a private organization for operation or provision of services, be conducted by the senate education committee and the house of representatives education committee, the results to be presented to the legislature by January 1986.
