AN ACT Relating to financial institutions; adding a new section to chapter 30.04 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 32.04 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 33.04 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 39.58 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 39.58 RCW to read as follows:

          In order to qualify as a public depositary under this chapter, a financial institution shall, upon presentation of valid identification and without requiring a deposit or payment of a fee, cash checks or warrants issued in payment of benefits to recipients of social security, supplemental security income, aid to families with dependent children, workers compensation, or unemployment compensation, or issued as refunds of federal income tax.  This requirement is in addition to any other requirement imposed under this chapter.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 30.04 RCW to read as follows:

          A bank organized under this title shall, upon presentation of valid identification and without requiring a deposit or payment of a fee, cash checks or warrants issued in payment of benefits to recipients of social security, supplemental security income, aid to families with dependent children, workers compensation, or unemployment compensation, or issued as refunds of federal income tax.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 32.04 RCW to read as follows:

          A mutual savings bank organized under this title shall, upon presentation of valid identification and without requiring a deposit or payment of a fee, cash checks or warrants issued in payment of benefits to recipients of social security, supplemental security income, aid to families with dependent children, workers compensation, or unemployment compensation, or issued as refunds of federal income tax.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 33.04 RCW to read as follows:

          A savings and loan association organized under this title shall, upon presentation of valid identification and without requiring a deposit or payment of a fee, cash checks or warrants issued in payment of benefits to recipients of social security, supplemental security income, aid to families with dependent children, workers compensation, or unemployment compensation, or issued as refunds of federal income tax.
