AN ACT Relating to the crime of vagrancy; and adding a new section to chapter 9A.84 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 9A.84 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) A person is guilty of vagrancy if:

          (a) The person loiters or lodges in any public place not kept for such purposes, without the permission of the owner or person entitled to the possession thereof;

          (b) The person solicits in a public place any compensation, gratuity, or reward for his or her benefit without providing service, product, or other benefit in return; or

          (c) The person is voluntarily intoxicated and loiters about any public place, street, or meeting.

          (2) Vagrancy is a misdemeanor.
