AN ACT Relating to cities and counties; adding a new section to chapter 35.21 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 36.01 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 35.21 RCW to read as follows:

          It shall be in the public purpose for all cities and counties to engage in economic development programs.  In addition, cities and counties may contract with nonprofit corporations in furtherance of this and other acts relating to economic development.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 36.01 RCW to read as follows:

          It shall be in the public purpose for all cities and counties to engage in economic development programs.  In addition, cities and counties may contract with nonprofit corporations in furtherance of this and other acts relating to economic development.
