AN ACT Relating to the joint legislative committee on child support; and amending section 36, chapter 260, Laws of 1984 (uncodified).

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.   Section 36, chapter 260, Laws of 1984 (uncodified) is amended to read as follows:

          A joint legislative committee on child support is hereby created.  The committee shall be composed of ((eleven)) twelve members, five to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives and five to be appointed by the president of the senate.  Three of the members from each house shall be from the majority party and two from the minority party.  The eleventh ((member)) and twelfth members shall be ((a member)) members of the public and shall be appointed by a majority of the legislative committee members, one of whom shall be a non-custodial parentIn addition, the committee may appoint up to two additional public members.  The nonlegislative members of the joint committee shall not receive compensation but shall be reimbursed under RCW 43.03.050 and 43.03.060 for travel expenses incurred while attending official meetings of the committee.  The legislative members shall be reimbursed for travel expenses under RCW 44.04.120.
