AN ACT Relating to higher education tuition and fees; and amending RCW 28B.15.067.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

        Sec. 1.  Section 2, chapter 257, Laws of 1981 as amended by section 15, chapter 37, Laws of 1982 1st ex. sess. and RCW 28B.15.067 are each amended to read as follows:

          General tuition and operating fees shall be established and adjusted ((biennially)) annually under the provisions of this chapter beginning with the ((1983-84)) 1985-86 academic year.  Such fees shall be identical, subject to other provisions of this chapter, for students enrolled at either state university, for students enrolled at the regional universities and The Evergreen State College and for students enrolled at any community college.  The general tuition and operating fees shall reflect the undergraduate and graduate educational costs of the state universities, the regional universities and the community colleges, respectively, in the amounts ((herein)) prescribed in this chapter.  Any change in tuition and operating fees shall be phased-in at fifty percent the first year and one hundred percent the second year of the biennium.
