AN ACT Relating to parenting education; and adding a new section to chapter 74.09 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 74.09 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) The department shall require as part of the money payments, services, and remedial care provided through the aid to families with dependent children program, that parents or eligible relatives shall participate in parenting education courses as specified by the department.

          (2) The department shall develop rules to ensure that all parents and guardians participating in the aid to families with dependent children program attend and complete parenting education programs.
