AN ACT Relating to the center for international trade and economic development; adding a new section to chapter 28B.20 RCW; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.20 RCW to read as follows:

          The center for international trade and economic development is established at the University of Washington.  The board of regents shall hire the director of the center and adopt any rules necessary for the operation of the center.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     The board of regents of the University of Washington shall establish an advisory committee to examine the scope, requirements, and authority of the center for international trade and economic development and specify the educational and research functions of the center.  The committee shall be composed of not more than nine members selected by the board of regents from persons experienced in international trade, persons representing the business community, and persons with a background in education.  The committee shall submit its report to the board of regents by October 1, 1985. The board of regents shall submit its evaluation of the committee's report and its recommendations to the appropriate standing committees of the senate and house of representatives by December 15, 1985.
