AN ACT Relating to penalties imposed under Title 51 RCW; and amending RCW 51.48.100.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

        Sec. 1.  Section 51.48.100, chapter 23, Laws of 1961 and RCW 51.48.100 are each amended to read as follows:

          The director may waive the whole or any part of any penalty charged under this title.  The director may, at his or her discretion, declare a penalty-free period of no more than three months only for employers who have never previously reported or paid premiums for eligible employees under Title 51 RCW.  Employers may qualify for penalty-free status upon payment of one year's premium in full and shall be subject to all penalties for any subsequent failure to comply with the requirements of this title.
