AN ACT Relating to city and county regulation of fire hydrants; and adding a new section to chapter 80.28 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 80.28 RCW to read as follows:

          A city or county may, by ordinance or resolution, require a water company to maintain fire hydrants in the area served by the water company.  The utilities and transportation commission has no authority to waive this obligation.
