AS PASSED HOUSE JANUARY 25, 1988

BACKGROUND:

State liquor stores may not sell liquor on Sundays.  This restriction also applies to persons selling spirits as designated vendor/agents of the Liquor Control Board.

SUMMARY:

A state liquor store (including a designated vendor/agent) may sell liquor on Sunday if the Liquor Control Board determines that unique circumstances exist which necessitate Sunday liquor sales to meet the needs of tourists, vacationers, or travelers.

EFFECT OF SENATE AMENDMENT(S)Sunday liquor sales are permitted only by liquor vendor/agents (and not by state liquor stores.)  Vendor/agents may only sell products of their own manufacture, and a customer is limited to one case.  The criterion for allowing Sunday sales that the sales will meet the needs of tourists, vacationers, or travelers is deleted.
