BACKGROUND:

 

Automobile insurance companies are required to provide an appropriate premium discount for persons age fifty-five or older who complete a motor vehicle accident prevention course approved by the Department of Licensing.

 

SUMMARY:

 

BILL AS AMENDED:  Automobile insurance companies are required to provide an appropriate premium discount for persons age nineteen or older who have a good driving record, have ten years' driving experience or have completed a traffic safety education course, and have successfully completed a motor vehicle accident prevention course approved by the Department of Licensing.

 

AMENDED BILL COMPARED TO ORIGINAL:  Premium discounts are effective for a one year period rather than for two years after completion of the course.
