Seeking a continuation of the Washington Task Force on Permanency Planning's efforts to review the juvenile code.

 

 

                        AS PASSED HOUSE APRIL 15, 1987

 

BACKGROUND:

 

Since 1984, the Washington State Permanency Planning Task Force has been operating on a grant from the Department of Justice under the auspices of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.  The task force is composed of judges, legislators, state agency representatives, attorneys, and others.  The task force has undertaken a study of the state's juvenile code.

 

In 1986, the legislature acknowledged the work of the task force and required the task force to report its findings to the legislature by October 1986.  The task force has not yet completed its work.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The legislature once again acknowledges the work of the Washington State Permanency Planning Task Force.  The task force is required to present its findings to the legislature by November 1, 1987.
