AS PASSED HOUSE APRIL 14, 1987

BACKGROUND:

Class H licenses may be issued to restaurants, hotels, clubs, and other facilities specified by statute.  The license allows the sale of spirituous liquor by the individual glass, beer, and wine for consumption on the premises.

In 1986, the legislature authorized class H licensed hotels to sell liquor by the bottle to registered guests for consumption in guest rooms, hospitality rooms, and at banquets.  The legislature also permitted registered hotel guests who have purchased liquor by the bottle to remove unused portions from the premises.

Persons offering three or more lodging units to travelers and transient guests must obtain a license under the transient accommodations provisions.

SUMMARY:

The authorization for class H licensed hotels to sell liquor by the bottle to registered guests is expanded to apply to clubs with overnight sleeping accommodations licensed as transient accommodations.  Registered guests who have purchased liquor from the club may remove unused portions from the premises.
