AN ACT Relating to improper governmental action; and adding a new section to chapter 42.40 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 42.40 RCW to read as follows:

          An employee who reports information of improper governmental action to any state legislator is entitled to the protections provided under this chapter.  The state legislator or a legislative staff person acting on the legislator's behalf shall report the information to the auditor in a timely manner.
