AN ACT Relating to insurance riders; adding a new section to chapter 48.20 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.21 RCW; adding a new section to chapter 48.44 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 48.46 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 48.20 RCW to read as follows:

          Disability insurance contracts shall disclose the number of years, if any, a rider is in effect.  In no case may a rider be in effect for more than five years if the insured's medical history demonstrates full recovery.

          A rider is a legal document that modifies a disability insurance contract by either expanding or decreasing, or otherwise revising, the coverage to be provided.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 48.21 RCW to read as follows:

          Group disability insurance contracts shall disclose the number of years, if any, a rider is in effect.  In no case may a rider be in effect for more than five years if the insured's medical history demonstrates full recovery.

          A rider is a legal document that modifies a group disability insurance contract by either expanding or decreasing, or otherwise revising, the coverage to be provided.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.  A new section is added to chapter 48.44 RCW to read as follows:

          Health care service contracts shall disclose the number of years, if any, a rider is in effect.  In no case may a rider be in effect for more than five years if the insured's medical history demonstrates full recovery.

          A rider is a legal document that modifies a health care service contract by either expanding or decreasing, or otherwise revising, the coverage to be provided.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 4.  A new section is added to chapter 48.46 RCW to read as follows:

          Health maintenance agreements shall disclose the number of years, if any, a rider is in effect.  In no case may a rider be in effect for more than five years if the insured's medical history demonstrates full recovery.

          A rider is a legal document that modifies a health maintenance agreement by either expanding or decreasing, or otherwise revising, the coverage to be provided.
