AN ACT Relating to acquisition of governmental agency surplus property by fire protection districts; and adding a new section to chapter 52.12 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 52.12 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) Notwithstanding the provisions of chapter 39.33 RCW, a fire protection district shall have priority to acquire surplus equipment of the state or any municipality or any political subdivision thereof.

          (2) The state, any municipality, or any political subdivision thereof shall publish a list of surplus equipment to be disposed of at least ten days but not more that twenty days prior to disposition in a newspaper of general circulation in the area where the property is located.

          (3) The type of equipment which five protection districts have priority under this section to obtain shall include, but not be limited to trucks, radios, pumps, tractors, and office equipment.
