AN ACT Relating to the Washington scholars program; and creating a new section.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     (1) The higher education coordinating board shall conduct a study of the feasibility and advisability of expanding the Washington scholars program to allow the provision of grants to Washington scholars award recipients who choose to attend an independent institution of higher education in the state of Washington.  The study shall include an analysis of the potential legal questions.

          (2) The higher education coordinating board shall report to the legislature on or before December 1, 1988, on the results of this study.  The higher education coordinating board may include recommendations to the legislature and/or suggested legislation in its report.
