AN ACT Relating to motor freight carriers; and adding a new section to chapter 81.80 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 81.80 RCW to read as follows:

          An insurer of a common carrier or contract carrier shall not, as a condition of insurance, require the drivers employed by the carrier to meet qualifications or requirements that are more strict than the requirements of state and federal law, rules, and regulations, including the rules and regulations of the utilities and transportation commission and the interstate commerce commission.
