AN ACT Relating to chore services; creating a new section; making an appropriation; and declaring an emergency.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The legislature intends to provide sufficient funding to enable the provision of chore services to the level of clients originally anticipated in the 1987-89 appropriations act.

          The legislature further intends for the department of social and health services to accomplish the legislature's intent by application for and utilization of additional Title XIX federal moneys that can reasonably become available for similar long-term care programs, such as COPES.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     There is hereby appropriated for the 1987-89 biennium three million dollars from the general fund‑-state and one million five hundred thousand dollars from the general fund‑-federal to the department of social and health services' long-term care program.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 3.     This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
