AN ACT Relating to part-time and temporary public employment; adding a new section to chapter 41.06 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 28B.16 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.06 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) The director shall establish a list of retired state employees who desire part-time or temporary employment with the state.  Any retired state employee may place his or her name on the list within five years after retirement.  The director may remove from the list the name of any person who, after five years on the list, has not obtained any part-time or temporary employment.

          (2) In filling part-time and temporary positions, the director shall give preference to persons on the list compiled under subsection (1) of this section.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.16 RCW to read as follows:

          (1) The director shall establish a list of retired state employees who desire part-time or temporary employment with the state.  Any retired state employee may place his or her name on the list within five years after retirement.  The director may remove from the list the name of any person who, after five years on the list, has not obtained any part-time or temporary employment.

          (2) In filling part-time and temporary positions, the director shall give preference to persons on the list compiled under subsection (1) of this section.
