AN ACT Relating to qualifications for positions under state civil service; adding a new section to chapter 41.06 RCW; and adding a new section to chapter 28B.16 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.06 RCW to read as follows:

          In determining minimum qualifications for a classified position or examination, the director or appointing authority shall not require a graduate or undergraduate degree unless the requirement can also be satisfied by the applicant demonstrating a specified amount of pertinent employment experience.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.  A new section is added to chapter 28B.16 RCW to read as follows:

          In determining minimum qualifications for a classifed position or examination, the director shall not require a graduate or undergraduate degree unless the requirement can also be satisfied by the applicant demonstrating a specified amount of pertinent employment experience.
