AN ACT Relating to fishing seasons; and adding a new section to chapter 75.08 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 75.08 RCW to read as follows:

          The director may compensate commercial fishermen who lose fishing opportunity because of severe stormy weather by allowing an extension of a fishing season to compensate for the lost opportunity.  The intent of this section is to reduce the risk to commercial fishermen who would otherwise feel obligated to fish in stormy weather, but who now would have opportunity to have the opportunity restored at the discretion of the director.
