AN ACT Relating to the Olympic games; and adding a new section to chapter 41.04 RCW.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 41.04 RCW to read as follows:

          Every officer and employee of the state or of any county, city, or other political subdivision thereof who is a participating athlete or unpaid official at the winter or summer trials for the United States team to the Olympic games or the winter or summer Olympic games competition shall be entitled to and shall be granted official representation leave of absence from such employment for a period not exceeding thirty days for such trials and thirty days for such games.  Such official representation leave of absence shall be in addition to any vacation or sick leave to which the officer or employee might otherwise be entitled, and shall not involve any loss of efficiency rating, privileges, or pay.  During the period of such leave, the officer or employee shall receive from the state or the county, city, or other political subdivision, the officer's or employee's normal pay.
