AN ACT Relating to the apprenticeship council; and creating new sections.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 1.     The legislature finds that the key to prosperity and happiness for workers in the state is directly associated with the options available for employment.  The legislature further finds that in order to encourage employers to develop new training programs, these employers must be given clear program standards along with precise information as to what changes may be needed in order to gain program approval.

 

          NEW SECTION.  Sec. 2.     The legislative budget committee shall conduct a study of the operations and standards used by the apprenticeship council within the department of labor and industries.  The committee shall complete its study and submit a report containing its findings and recommendations to the governor and the commerce and labor committees of the senate and the house of representatives by October 1, 1988.
