AN ACT Relating to fishing vessels; adding a new section to chapter 75.12 RCW; and prescribing penalties.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 75.12 RCW to read as follows:
(1) In order to assure an orderly fishery, maintain safety, insure adequate recording of fish catch, and ensure enforcement of the fishing laws of the state, the name and registration number of all vessels that participate in commercial fishing activities shall be displayed in a clearly visible manner under rules adopted by the department of fisheries.
(2) Displays under this section shall conform to the numbering and size requirements of the United States coast guard.
(3) No person may engage in any commercial fishing activity using any vessel that does not display its name and registration number as required under this section.
