AN ACT Relating to gifts, grants, conveyances, devises, and bequests to school districts; and amending RCW 28A.58.030.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

 

        Sec. 1.  Section 1, chapter 8, Laws of 1974 ex. sess. and RCW 28A.58.030 are each amended to read as follows:

          (1) The board of directors of any school district may accept, receive and administer for scholarship and student aid purposes such gifts, grants, conveyances, devises and bequests of personal or real property, in trust or otherwise, for the use or benefit of the school district or its students; and sell, lease, rent or exchange and invest or expend the same or the proceeds, rents, profits and income thereof according to the terms and conditions thereof, if any, for the foregoing purposes; and enter into contracts and adopt regulations deemed necessary by the board to provide for the receipt and expenditure of the foregoing.

          (2) School district boards of directors are encouraged to use a portion of such gifts and grants as may be provided under subsection (1) of this section to pay for any increased support service costs incurred as a result of the provision of the gifts or grants.
