AN ACT Relating to public works; and adding a new section to chapter 39.04 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 39.04 RCW to read as follows:

          On public works projects in which trench excavation will exceed a depth of five feet, the plans and specifications, and any contract therefor, shall include detailed provisions for adequate safety systems for the trench excavation that meet the requirements of the Washington industrial safety and health act, chapter 49.17 RCW.  These safety systems shall be included in the cost estimates as separate items.
