                              SYNOPSIS AS ENACTED

BACKGROUND:

A person performing work on a crop may claim a lien against the crop if he or she is not paid for the work.  Prior to the recodification of the crop lien statutes in 1986, a person with a labor lien against a crop was required to file the lien within 20 days after the work was completed.  Under the revised law, the person must file the lien before the harvest of the crop is completed.

SUMMARY:

A person claiming a lien against a crop for labor furnished on the crop must file a statement with the Department of Licensing within 20 days after the cessation of the work for which the lien is claimed.
