AS REPORTED BY COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION JANUARY 25, 1990

BACKGROUND:

The naming of bridges and highways is at the prerogative of the Transportation Commission.  The Marine Corps League is involved in Toys-for-Tots, Special Leisure Time at Fort Lewis, and has been instrumental in creating a video library for children and adults of Hospice programs.

The naming of State Route (SR) 3 in honor of the league's statewide community service is a fitting tribute to the Corps.  SR 3 begins at Shelton, runs northeasterly through the Bremerton area and terminates in the vicinity of Port Gamble.

SUMMARY:

The Transportation Commission is requested to begin proceedings to designate SR 3 as the Marine Corps Memorial Highway.  Copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the nine Marine Corp League detachments.
