AS PASSED HOUSE FEBRUARY 27, 1990

BACKGROUND:

The Radiologic Technology Practice Act was enacted in 1987 with a termination date of June 30, 1990 for the purpose of review by the Legislative Budget Committee under the "sunset" law.  The practice of radiologic technology is regulated under this act, and persons who meet educational and other requirements are certified to practice by the Department of Health.

The Legislative Budget Committee completed its sunset review and recommended that the sunset termination date be extended until 1995 because there was an insufficient amount of time to determine the efficacy of the act.

SUMMARY:

The sunset termination date of June 30, 1990 for the Radiologic Technology Practice Act is repealed and extended to 1995. The practice act would consequently be repealed in 1996 unless reenacted by the Legislature.

Fiscal Note:      Requested January 8, 1990.
