PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF

FISH AND WILDLIFE

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Special closures and firearm restriction areas; seasons, areas and quotas for deer, elk, moose, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, black bear, cougar and small game; game management units and boundary descriptions and special game areas; trapping seasons and regulations; official hunting hours; PLWMAs; weapon regulations; classifications of wild birds; nontoxic shot; use of waterfowl decoys; landowner damage hunts; classification of deleterious wildlife; possessing and holding in captivity live wildlife and scientific permits criteria.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 77.12.047, 77.12.020.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: To provide recreational opportunity for hunters and trappers.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule:      Agency study.
