PROCLAMATION BY THE GOVERNOR


     WHEREAS, a Pacific frontal storm system swept through Washington State on the evening of January 5 and continued through January 7, 2007, threatening citizens and property of Washington State; and


     This storm system produced high winds that damaged electrical and communication utilities and public infrastructure in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Island, Jefferson, King, and Snohomish Counties. Impacts related to this storm caused damage to homes, businesses, public facilities and infrastructure of the citizens and property of Washington State.


     NOW, THEREFORE, I, Christine O. Gregoire, Governor of the state of Washington, as a result of the above-noted situation and under Chapters 38.08, 38.52, 43.06, 43.20, 43.70, and 70.05 RCW, do hereby proclaim that a State of Emergency exists in Chelan, Douglas, Grant, Island, Jefferson, King, and Snohomish Counties. The Washington Military Department, Emergency Management Division is instructed to coordinate all event-related assistance to the affected areas.
