NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS

WASHINGTON STATE

REHABILITATION COUNCIL

     The Washington state rehabilitation council is a group of governor-appointed volunteers. The council was created by Title 1, Section 105 of the Rehabilitation Act and by Executive Order 04-04, for the purpose of increasing employment and economic advancement for jobseekers with disabilities that have received or are receiving services from the division of vocational rehabilitation (DVR). We are systems advocates for the vocational rehabilitation service system and the customers it serves. Our mandates include: Gathering public input about vocational rehabilitation services, assessing program data and performance, and making policy recommendations.

     The objectives for the meeting are to:


     •     Learn about the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act;

     •     Advance committee work;

     •     Discussion of challenges facing DVR: Hiring approval and potential impacts on timely service delivery; and,

     •     Listening to customers.
