The Washington state rehabilitation council is a group of fifteen governor-appointed volunteers. The council was created by Title 1, Section 105 of the Rehabilitation Act and by Executive Order 04-04, for the purpose of increasing employment and economic advancement for eligible jobseekers with disabilities. We are systems advocates for the vocational rehabilitation service system and the customers it serves. Our mandates include gathering public input, which is why you are being invited to share your thoughts. You are not required to attend. This is not a regular DVR appointment with your counselor. We will take comment for ninety minutes. The last half hour will leave time for mingling and individual follow-up.

We are interested in how the VR system is working. Some of the things we most want to know are:

What you understand about the services DVR provides?
If you feel you are treated with courtesy and respect by DVR staff?
If DVR is helping you learn skills to get a job?
If you feel like you picked the kind of job you want?
If you have a job, are you working as much as you want to? and,
If you have a job, do you have more money than before working with DVR?

To request reasonable accommodation or a spoken language interpreter, please contact JoAnne Lang at langjk@dshs.wa.gov or 1-866-252-2939.

If you would rather submit written comments by e-mail than join us in person, you are welcome to do that by contacting JoAnne at the e-mail listed above.

Transportation and Parking: We respectfully encourage all who can use public transportation to do so rather than driving and paying for parking. Unfortunately, we will not pay parking costs. The meeting location is .06 of a mile from the Sound Transit University Light Rail Station and is .25 miles from a Metro transit hub at 3rd Avenue and Union Street.

The Washington state rehabilitation council received approval from the office of financial management to meet in person at this facility.
