PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

TACOMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Final course grade appeal process.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 28B.50.140(13).

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: To provide a structured, equitable process for students to grieve final course grades that may have been assigned in an arbitrary or capricious manner.

     Process for Developing New Rule:      Agency study.

     Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication. Adoption of the new WAC is being studied by various groups on campus that include students, faculty, staff and administrators.
