Title: Policy 07-16-104A - Renewal Extension for Temporary Elevator Mechanic License (Category 09).
Date Issued: January 1, 2015, updated October 1, 2016.
Description: This policy, originally adopted in January 2015, allows for the renewal of temporary elevator mechanic licenses (category 09) to extend beyond two consecutive months and no more than six licenses issued in a twelve month period to up to eighteen consecutive months and no more than eighteen licenses issued in an eighteen month period. The policy initially expired on July 1, 2016, was updated to be in effect from October 1, 2016, to December 1, 2016, or until rescinded, modified or withdrawn by the director or his or her designee. This policy is due to an abnormally high rate of construction and shortage of qualified licensed elevator mechanics available within the state to meet construction demands as authorized by WAC 296-96-00912(3). Individuals must meet the licensing requirements to qualify for a renewal extension for a temporary elevator mechanic license.
