PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

Subject of Possible Rule Making: The department is seeking to establish a new rule and make amendments to existing rules to streamline the accommodation process for hunters with disabilities.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 77.04.012, 77.04.055, 77.12.020, and 77.12.047.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: To create uniformity between the existing rules and the federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and to simplify the accommodation process for hunters with disabilities.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: United States Fish and Wildlife Service, Department of Interior (Civil Rights Division) and Department of Justice on ADA Compliance. The department will share proposed rule language with these agencies and coordinate as needed through the department's ADA program manager.
Process for Developing New Rule: Agency study.
